Teaming with nature and family friendly activities, Kennesaw features an array of hikes and trails where you and the family can explore and connect with nature. Lace up your hiking shoes as we explore some of these beautiful Georgia trails and discover what awaits when you venture off on one of these Georgia hikes.

The Historic Battlefield Trail
Battlefield Trail lies in the heart of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. The nearly 3,000 acre park preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces maneuvered and fought on these grounds from June 19, 1864 to July 2, 1864. Today the grounds are peaceful and offer tranquil hiking opportunities. Battlefield Trail runs an eleven mile loop across grassy battlefields and captivating forest. At its summit, stunning views await, allowing you to gaze across the land’s diverse terrain as you look upon the city of Atlanta in the distance.

The Family Friendly Environmental Trail
Our next stop on our list of Georgia Trails is Environmental Trail, which explores the natural beauty of the northwest side of Kennesaw Mountain. You’re nearly transported through time as you venture through this Georgia trail’s beauty. As you venture through the beautiful forest and explore the wide range of trees, wildlife habitats, ancient boulders, and baytrail creek, you’ll find yourself wanting to venture further. Illustrated signs paint a clear picture of surrounding forest systems, geology, wildlife and more, offering a great opportunity for families to take their children. Remaining kid-friendly, the hike is only 1.35 miles, which offers just the right amount of outdoor time before the little ones run out of energy.

The Breathtaking Kennesaw Mountain Trail
Kennesaw Mountain Trail serves as a moderately difficult hike, and is recommended for the seasoned hiker, but offers breathtaking views from its rocky, open peak. The journey summits Kennesaw Mountain, and offers rocky, steeply pitched terrain but gives hikers a break thanks to its natural shading. Though moderately challenging, the hike is relatively short, at just 2.1 miles, and offers breathtaking views that include the Atlanta skyline and Stone Mountain on the horizon.

The Enchanted Cheatham Hill And Kolb Farm Loop Trails
Offering nearly six miles of round trip beauty, the Cheatham Hill hike offers historic monuments, antique cannons, and other natural beauty as you venture through this historic Civil War battleground. Pairing with the Kolb Farm Trial, there’s no shortage of beauty or history on this breathtaking hike. As you venture through the forest alongside natural streams, fields, and wildflowers, you’ll come across the Kolb Farmhouse. Built in 1836, the log home stands as the venue for the Battle of Kolb’s Farm, another breathtaking piece of history, but not the only historic sight you’ll see while on this incredible Georgia hike.
